☕️ Kardemummabullar are a fundamental part of the Swedish culture, particularly associated with the tradition of fika, a coffee and pastry break!

This pastry has a soft, sweet, and buttery dough flavored heavily with cardamom. Unlike American cinnamon rolls, they are not excessively sweet or covered in thick icing, instead using a fragrant cardamom and sugar filling and topping!

2. Forget a lunchbox or cooler - If you plan on hiking, you’ll want to pack your lunch! Not only is this a Swiss tradition, but a great way to save money!

3. Forget to check if the cableways/railways you want to take are open - A lot of things close down during off season and in the winter months due to weather!

4. Rely on credit card only - Although you’ll be able to use your card most of the time, you might have to leave a city tourist tax depending on where you stay! Usually this has to be done in cash!

5. Overpack your itinerary - We PROMISE you’ll want to spend most of your time in Switzerland out in nature! Hikes and cableways can take longer than expected and you don’t want to feel rushed! ‼️ We recommend booking only 1 big activity per day!

We stayed for 3 nights, although you only need 1 day to see everything! You can Definitely visit from Vienna without having to stay the night!

A spa day is a cultural experience in Budapest!🇭🇺

Budapest is called the City of Spas for a reason.

It sits on over a hundred natural hot springs,
and people have been soaking here since Roman times!

The two most famous are Gellért Baths,
a stunning Art Nouveau spa that feels like bathing inside a palace,

We hopped on this €35 train from Budapest to Bratislava & instantly felt like we were aboard the Hogwarts express!

We had second class tickets AND our own carriage! 😱

Have you heard of this Hungarian treat?! 🇭🇺

Well actually, chimney cakes aren’t popular in just Hungary, but all over Central Europe! They actually started in Transylvania in the 17th century as a holiday and fair treat!

✨ Chimney cakes are made by wrapping sweet dough around a baking spit, baking it, coating it with butter, then rolling it through various toppings like sugar, coconut or walnuts!

🪵 They used to bake these treats over an open flame !!

You WILL have a sugar high after eating one, but you have to try!!!

We loved our experience with @getyourguide where we got to make these traditional treats from scratch!

We got to walk away with 3 chimney cakes each AND a greater knowledge of Hungarian culture and history! 🇭🇺

Everyone always asks us - “How were you able to afford 14 months of travel?!”.

Let us tell you how…

✨ We cooked 90% of our meals at our accommodation! Yes, we splurged on nice meals out, but we enjoyed exploring the markets in every new place and cooking at home even more!

✨ We waited till off season to visit some of the more popular places! Off season prices usually go way down!

✨ Long stays - Did you know that a lot of airbnbs have long stay discounts ?! We saved so much money doing this.. sometimes thousands a month! For short term stays, we looked for places that had breakfast included!

✨ We researched and traveled to places where the dollar stretched farther! For example, Poland is SO affordable and has SO much to offer!

✨ We walked A LOT and always opted for public transit over a car/Uber!

And yes, we were both working while we traveled.

💰 We don’t get paid to travel - so YES, this is possible even if you’re not a travel influencer!

Montenegro is a small country, so you can start this road-trip from anywhere!!

🚙 We rented a car from Kotor and drove 2.5 hours to Žabljak, which is where we stayed! We stayed for 2 nights but wish we’d had longer to explore!

📍Žabljak is walking distance from the Black Lake (Crno Jezero) and other hiking trails, which you’ll want to explore!

- At the Black Lake you can swim, rent boats or hang out at the amazing restaurant with lake views! You could truly spend a whole day right here!

🌉 You’ll also want to drive to the Tara Bridge, which is a huge, concrete arch over the Tara river! You can walk across or do an adventure sport like zip lining!

📣 Our favorite part was the Durmitor Ring Drive, which is a 3 hour pass that will leave you feeling like you’re on another planet! You could spend days exploring the hiking trails and stop off points here!!

☕️ You also don’t want to miss the Piva River, a gorgeous, turquoise blue reservoir, where you can stop to have a coffee or swim!

This is my (Steph’s) story from before B & I were together!

My first trip abroad was to Thailand! I actually went with Brian’s sister (did you guys know she’s how B & I met?!).

🇹🇭 We traveled to Thailand for the Lantern Festival that happens every year, but our connecting flight to Chiangmai got canceled.

We got to Bangkok late at night and had no place to stay.

🚙 We called a car and were planning to find a room at the nearest hotel, but the hotel was fully booked because of the festival - & so was the next one …. & the next one.

We asked our driver to take us to the train station where we planned to sleep, but he offered up a spare bedroom at his house instead.

😳 Kelsey & I looked at each other and both said “okay” at the same time. I don’t even think it crossed our minds that he could literally kidnap us. 🙈

Ps. This whole conversation was happening with google translate because our driver didn’t speak any English!!!

Looking back, this was the dumbest thing we could have EVER done, but it worked out fine in the end & is one of the funniest stories to tell.

Just like he promised, we had our own room and he took us back to the train station in the morning!

His name is Watana and we kept up with him on WhatsApp for awhile after this trip!

We didn’t realize how crazy this story was until we got home and told our parents…. 😂

Don’t miss these restaurants/cafes in Budapest, Hungary 🇭🇺

We never recommend restaurants/cafes unless we REALLY love them - so enjoy this special treat! 🥐

We weren’t expecting much from the Budapest food scene, but we were so wrong.

If you visit, you have to try traditional goulash, cabbage rolls, Lángos, traditional salami and as many dishes with paprika as you can!!

Here are our recommendations:

1. Blueberry Brunch - the BEST brunch spot we’ve ever been to.

2. Mazel Tov - our Airbnb host recommended this Israeli restaurant to us & it didn’t disappoint!! Make reservations in advance because it’s a popular spot for both locals and tourists!!

3. Szimpla Farmers Market - this farmers market happens on Sundays between 9am-2pm! If you’re not in Budapest on a Sunday, pop into Szimpla Kert for a drink - it’s the oldest ruin pub in Budapest!

4. Street Food Karavan - if you want a quick lunch (get the Lángos), this is the perfect spot to do it! This walkway is filled with food trucks offer local and cultural cuisine!

5. Six Letter Coffee Co - we’re coffee snobs and we had our morning coffee at Six Letter instead of trying to find something better… that should explain enough! 🤣

6. Spíler Original - this vintage bar/restaurant has the best traditional Hungarian food with a twist!!!
